From 25 to 29 September Flaminia returns to Cersaie – the International Exhibition of Ceramic Tile and Bathroom Furnishings – focusing on the colours and the three-dimensionality of ceramics with a stand that pays homage to Japanese architecture. Art director Giulio Cappellini, in collaboration with designer Leonardo Talarico, has conceived a space structured like a village to explore, offering visitors an immersive experience.
The project revolves around a central glass structure, housing a bar and lounge, which serves as a link to the different exhibition spaces, characterised internally by nuances in harmony with the colours of the products on display. The walls of the boxes, covered in grey concrete-effect porcelain stoneware from the Glocal collection, supplied by Mirage, as well as the floor, are a tribute to the minimalist style of the contemporary architecture of the Rising Sun.
Flaminia’s technical and aesthetic research explores the full potential of the raw material and this year the focus of attention is on the volumetric and decorative aspects of
ceramics.
Among the new products by the brand, a trailblazer in the use of design in the production of fixtures for the bathroom, are the Settecento washbasin designed by Giulio Cappellini. A new, more compact version of the countertop washbasin and a free-standing model characterised by a tapered column reminiscent of holy water fonts in Sicilian baroque cathedrals round off the range of this line of washbasins.
Alongside the new products, new colours have been added to the brand’s palette, as the range of glossy finished proposals expands to include the hues peculiar to ancient oriental porcelain: from Azzurro Polvere to Verde Giada, from Avana to Terracotta. While Topazio and Smeraldo, the translucent and changing colours evoking of the brilliance of precious stones are only available in the Spire+ washbasin designed by Elena Salmistraro.
Experimentation is not limited to colour, as it also focuses on decoration. “Tratti”, Salmistraro’s newly created décor in Blue and Red variants – a reflection of the designer’s multifaceted talent and her bold reinterpretation of ancestral graphics – will be applied to a limited selection of products (the CM3 80×120 shower tray and the 120 cm NudaFlat console will be on display at Cersaie).
Flaminia, as always, explores the universe of home living on a 360°-degree basis, without setting limits on design. With this in mind, the company’s creative team designed the App Solution collection, within the wide App family, consisting of toilet bowls, bidets and washbasins for people with disabilities, by paying attention not only to specific needs but also to the formal appearance of the objects. This approach is highly innovative compared to what the market offers, striking the right balance between aesthetics, technical
constraints and functionality.
In this itinerary, which unfolds amidst new creations and bestsellers that have shaped the brand’s history, the most iconic collections find a new form of expression. From Roll, a washbasin designed by Nendo, which recalls a rolled up sheet of paper, to Link, the iconic project by Cappellini and Roberto Palomba, or Bonola by Jasper Morrison, but also the more recent Fluo by Niccolò Adolini, the Astra collection by Giulio Cappellini, the App collection, and the brand-new Play.
The evolution of the bathroom proposed this year by Flaminia, consistently and with its customary bold approach, carries on the experimentation that has made the brand a worldwide benchmark for bathroom design.
